How the Calculator Works

Enter your pay in any period — hourly, daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or annual — and the calculator instantly converts it to all other common pay periods. Adjust the hours per week and weeks per year to match your schedule, and optionally enter a tax rate to see your net take-home pay.

The Formulas Used

Here is the exact math running behind the scenes:

*Note: The "Daily" conversion assumes an 8-hour workday. If you work 10-hour days, you should calculate based on hourly or weekly instead.

Gross vs. Net Pay (Take-Home)

This calculator shows both Gross Pay (before taxes) and Net Pay (after taxes).

Gross Pay

This is the total amount your employer agrees to pay you. It is the number on your job offer letter. For an hourly worker, it is your hourly rate multiplied by the hours worked. For a salaried worker, it is the fixed annual or monthly amount.

Net Pay

This is the money that actually lands in your bank account. It is your gross pay minus:

Why the tax rate is a flat percentage here: Every country and state uses a different progressive tax bracket system. To keep this tool globally useful, we ask you to enter a single "Effective Tax Rate." To find yours, take the total tax you paid last year, divide it by your total gross income, and enter that percentage here. It's a rough estimate, not tax advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert hourly to annual salary?

Multiply your hourly rate by the number of hours you work per week, then multiply by the number of weeks you work per year. For example, $25/hour × 40 hours/week × 52 weeks = $52,000 annual.

Should I use 52 weeks or 50 weeks?

52 weeks is the mathematical standard for a full year. However, if you are an hourly worker who takes 2 weeks of unpaid vacation, you should enter 50 weeks to get a more accurate annual projection. If you get paid vacation, use 52.

Does the tax rate account for deductions?

The tax rate you enter is a simple flat percentage applied to gross income to estimate net pay. It doesn't replace professional tax advice but gives a quick take-home estimate. Adjust it to match your effective tax rate.

Can I change the currency?

Yes – use the currency dropdown to switch between USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, INR, PKR, and JPY. All displayed amounts update automatically.

Is my salary data stored anywhere?

No. All calculations run entirely in your browser. Your financial data never leaves your device and is never sent to any server.
