100% Private & Secure: Sitemap generation happens entirely in your browser. Your URL list is never transmitted to any server — not even ours.

What Is a Sitemap Generator?

A sitemap generator takes your website's URLs and compiles them into a standardized XML file — a sitemap.xml — that search engines use to discover your content. Without a sitemap, crawlers have to find your pages by following internal links, which can take weeks or even months for a new or large site. With a sitemap, you're handing Google and Bing a complete map of your site, including the deep pages they'd otherwise miss.

This tool generates a fully valid XML sitemap compatible with the Sitemap Protocol 0.9 — the same specification used by Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, and every other major search engine. It runs entirely in your browser; your URL list never leaves your device.

URL Set + Sitemap Index

Generate a standard <urlset> sitemap or a <sitemapindex> for very large sites split across multiple files.

URL Validation

Automatic detection of invalid URLs, missing protocols, and duplicates — before you generate the file.

Full Metadata Control

Set lastmod date, changefreq, and priority per sitemap. Rich metadata helps Google understand page importance.

Platform Templates

One-click templates for Blogger, WordPress, e-commerce, and static sites — with the right URL patterns pre-filled.

100% Client-Side

Your URL list never leaves your device. No account, no upload, no third-party access to your site structure.

Valid XML Output

Download the file ready to upload. Compatible with the Sitemap Protocol 0.9 and every major search engine.

Why Submit an XML Sitemap?

  • Faster discovery of new pages: Google can take weeks to find a new blog post without a sitemap. With one, it often indexes in hours.
  • Better crawl budget management: Point crawlers directly at your canonical URLs instead of wasting budget on tag archives and parameter duplicates.
  • Priority and lastmod signals: Tell search engines which pages matter most and when they were last updated.
  • Backlink discovery: Sitemaps help Google find pages you don't link to internally but want indexed.
  • Analytics integration: Google Search Console shows exactly which pages in your sitemap are indexed and which aren't.
  • Large site support: Sites with thousands of pages need a sitemap index to split content across multiple files.

Sitemap Limits & Best Practices

RuleRecommended Value
Max URLs per sitemap50,000
Max uncompressed size50 MB
EncodingUTF-8
Protocol versionSitemap Protocol 0.9
LocationWebsite root: /sitemap.xml
Referenced inrobots.txt + GSC + Bing Webmaster
Pro Tip: If your site has more than 50,000 URLs, split it into multiple sitemaps (e.g., posts-sitemap.xml, pages-sitemap.xml, products-sitemap.xml) and use this tool's Sitemap Index option to combine them into one master file. Each sub-sitemap still respects the 50,000-URL limit.

How a Sitemap Index Works

For large sites, a single sitemap isn't enough. The Sitemap Protocol allows one master file — a sitemap index — to reference many smaller sitemaps. Search engines read the index first, then crawl each child sitemap in turn.

  • 🔹 Organize by content type — separate sitemaps for posts, pages, products, categories.
  • 🔹 Update individually — regenerate only the sitemap that changed, not all of them.
  • 🔹 Parallel crawling — search engines crawl multiple sub-sitemaps concurrently, speeding up indexing.
  • 🔹 Monitor in GSC — see indexing stats for each child sitemap separately.

How to Use This Generator

1

Paste Your URLs

Copy your site's URLs and paste them one per line. Or click a template preset (Blogger, WordPress, etc.) to pre-fill common URL patterns.

2

Set Metadata

Choose a default change frequency, priority, and last modified date. These get applied to every URL — the recommended values work well for most sites.

3

Generate & Download

Click "Generate XML" to build your sitemap. Copy the code or download the file, then upload it to your site's root folder.

4

Submit to Search Engines

Open Google Search Console, add your sitemap URL, and submit. Do the same in Bing Webmaster Tools. Google will start crawling within hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

An XML sitemap acts as a roadmap for search engines. It ensures every page — including deep or orphan pages — is discovered and indexed properly. Without one, crawlers rely on internal links, which can leave significant parts of your site unfound.
A single sitemap can hold up to 50,000 URLs or 50 MB uncompressed. If your site has more than that, use the Sitemap Index option in this tool to split it into multiple child sitemaps referenced by one master file.
Upload it to your website's root folder so it loads at https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. Most hosts have a file manager in the control panel. You can also reference it from your robots.txt file with a Sitemap: line.
It's not strictly required if your site has fewer than 500 pages and good internal linking. But it costs nothing to add one, and it helps with new pages, orphan pages, and Google Search Console reporting. Recommended for any site that publishes content regularly.
A standard sitemap (<urlset>) lists individual URLs. A sitemap index (<sitemapindex>) lists other sitemaps. Use an index only when your site exceeds 50,000 URLs — otherwise a single sitemap is simpler and works just as well.
Yes. Blogger generates its own sitemap automatically at /sitemap.xml, but if you use a custom domain or want finer control (priority, changefreq), this tool lets you build one manually. Compatible with Blogger, WordPress, Shopify, static HTML, and any custom web platform.
No. Include canonical, indexable URLs only. Skip: paginated pages, filter URLs, internal search results, tag archives, and any page with a noindex meta tag. A clean sitemap helps Google focus its crawl on the pages that matter.
Yes. Everything is generated client-side in your browser. Your URL list never leaves your device, and the Share Config feature encodes only your settings in the URL fragment — never the actual URL list unless you explicitly include it.
