Full-stack developer and founder of SkillsInsider. I built this tool because picking a color from a screenshot or brand asset shouldn't require uploading it anywhere. If a sampled color looks off or a harmony doesn't match the standard, send me a message — I fix real issues within a day or two.

Frequently asked questions

How do I pick a color from an image?

Upload an image, then click anywhere on it. The color at that pixel is displayed with HEX, RGB, CMYK, and HSL values. You can also click any swatch in the extracted palette or harmony group to select it.

How are dominant colors extracted?

The tool samples the image at multiple points and groups similar colors into 16-step buckets. It then shows the top 8 most representative colors as a palette. All processing happens locally in your browser.

What harmonies are available?

Based on your selected color, the tool generates complementary, analogous, triadic, and split-complementary harmonies — 8 swatches total. Click any harmony swatch to instantly set it as your active color.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Every operation — file reading, pixel sampling, palette extraction, harmony generation — runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images are never transmitted or stored on any server.
