Convert PDF to editable Word DOCX or DOC files in your browser. Private, fast, no uploads โ with live preview and customizable fonts.
Upload a PDF file from the sidebar to preview and convert it.
A PDF file locks everything in place. Text, images, and page layout โ all frozen. You can read it, you can print it, but you can't easily edit it. That's fine until you need to fix a typo, change a name, or reuse a paragraph in your own report.
That's when you need a PDF to Word converter. It takes the text out of your PDF and puts it into a Word document. Now you can open it in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice and edit it like any other document.
This tool does that job right in your browser. Your file never leaves your computer. No sign-up, no email, no waiting in a queue. Just drop a PDF and download the Word file.
DOCX for modern Word (recommended) or DOC if you use very old software. That's the whole process. From start to finish, it usually takes less than a minute for a normal PDF.
Both are Word files. Both open in Microsoft Word. But they're from different eras.
| Feature | DOCX | DOC |
|---|---|---|
| Came out in | 2007 | 1997 |
| File size | Smaller (ZIP-based) | Bigger |
| Works with | Word 2007 and newer | Every version of Word |
| Best for | 99% of users | Old Windows XP / Word 2003 PCs |
Pick DOCX unless you're on an ancient computer. If you're not sure, DOCX is the safe choice โ it's what Microsoft Word saves by default in 2026.
The only reason to pick DOC is if you need to open the file on a very old version of Word. Some offices in India and Pakistan still run Word 2003, so we keep DOC as an option.
Not every PDF converts the same way. Here's what to expect.
[PAGE 1] between sections. Most free PDF to Word tools make you upload your file to their server. That's fine for a public recipe. But what if it's a contract, a medical report, or a business proposal?
This tool works differently. Your PDF stays on your device. The conversion happens inside your browser using a technology called PDF.js. Nothing is uploaded, so there's nothing to leak.
Try the DOCX format first. If that fails, switch to DOC. Some old versions of Word don't understand DOCX files โ DOC works everywhere.
This happens with PDFs that don't store line breaks properly. The text is there, but the spacing is lost. After opening in Word, you can fix the paragraphs manually โ usually faster than retyping.
Check your page range setting. If you picked "Custom Range" and typed something like
1-5, only those pages get converted. Set it back to "All Pages" to get
everything.
Very large PDFs (200+ pages) can slow down older computers. Try splitting the PDF first, or converting a page range at a time. On mobile phones, stick to files under 100 pages.
Yes. Here's exactly what happens when you use this tool:
At no point does any file leave your device. No data is sent to SkillsInsider's servers. No tracking cookies watch your conversion. It's the same privacy as opening a photo in an app on your phone.
You can prove it yourself: turn off your Wi-Fi after the page loads, then convert a PDF. It still works. That's proof your file never went online.
Both tools take text out of a PDF. The difference is the output:
Use PDF to Word when you need to edit and format. Use PDF to Text when you just want the words โ for searching, copy-pasting, or data analysis.
Yes. Completely free. No sign-up, no email, no credit card, no hidden limits. Use it as often as you want.
No. Your PDF stays on your device the whole time. The conversion happens inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or shared.
DOCX is Word's modern format (2007 and later). It's smaller and more reliable. DOC is the older format from Word 97-2003. Pick DOCX unless you're on very old software.
Yes. The tool works on iPhone, iPad, and Android. Small PDFs (under 50 pages) convert fine on mobile. For bigger files, use a computer โ phones slow down on very large PDFs.
No. This tool only works on PDFs that contain real text. If your PDF is a photo or scan of a page, you need OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software. This tool doesn't have OCR built in.
This tool extracts text only, not images. If your PDF has photos, logos, or diagrams, they won't show up in the Word file. You'll need to add them back manually in Word.
There's no hard limit. The only limit is your browser's memory. Most computers handle PDFs up to 200 pages easily. If it feels slow, convert a page range at a time instead.
Text stays. Basic paragraphs stay. Complex layouts (two-column pages, tables, custom fonts) get simplified into plain paragraphs. You'll need to reformat those in Word if it matters.
Yes. Download the Word file, then come back and download again as a different format if you want. There's no limit โ you can generate DOCX and DOC from the same PDF.
Once the page has fully loaded, yes. Turn off your Wi-Fi and it still works. That's because everything runs inside your browser โ no server needed after the first load.
